Keeping Your Spice Cabinet Organized
If you’re like most people, at some point you’ve pulled everything out of your kitchen cabinets and reorganized, vowing to keep your cabinets neat and tidy. But over time, it’s inevitable that things will not be put back in place after every use and once again, when you’re looking for the garlic salt or the oregano, they are nowhere in sight.
If your spice cabinet is high, part of the problem is that things seem to sneak to the back of the cabinet never to be seen again. A lazy Susan or a step-up organizer is the best solution in this case.
Put the taller jars in the back on the highest shelf of the step-up organizer and work your way down to the little short containers on the front row. On your lazy Susan, put the taller jars in the middle and work your way out with the shorter jars on the outside. If you really want the best of all worlds, organize in alphabetical order. If that’s too much to ask, just getting them placed by size will be a huge improvement.
And, by all means, check the dates! If you have spices in your spice cabinet that have been there for more than a year, get rid of them and replace what you discard!
