The Basics for Repainting Kitchen Cabinets
If you have good, sturdy cabinets in your kitchen, you can give them a coat of fresh paint for a new fresh look in your kitchen.
The good news is that paint primers have come a long way, so longer will you be forced to sand your cabinets down to the bare wood before they will hold another coat of paint. Today you can purchase primers that will allow you to successfully paint over any surface and not have it peel off right before your eyes.
A few tips for a successful job:
1. Remove all hardware
2. Take the doors off the cabinets
3. Give yourself enough time to get the job done
4. Clean the surface first and let it dry completely
5. Be sure you let the primer dry completely before adding the main color, but don’t allow a layer of dust to form on your cabinet; so be ready to paint when the primer is dry.
If you take your time and get everything in place before you begin, your kitchen cabinets can look like new – especially if you add new hinges and handles.
